		<description>I used to have a part-time job that paid my way through college working for two brokers.

Education does not matter as much as sales skills.  Its a relationship selling strategy.  People skills and an understanding of portfolio theory are prime requisites in this field.

The two I worked for, one had a BA is Psych, and the other a Masters in Science.  My friend in the industry has a BA in economics.</description>

It&#039;s more important to enjoy selling and to have numerous contacts with wealthy people. Keep in mind that the figures reporting average broker salaries in excess of $100K have a survivorship bias. Brokers are either wildly successful or get fired. There isn&#039;t much room for being in between in that business.
