I have worked with quite a few ex-JAGS both in government and private industry. I even supervised a few reserve JAG’s for a while. They were all exceptionally well trained and very skilled. The overall reputation for JAGs is really excellent. My area was contract and employment law. The Department of Defense (big civilian employer) has a strong preference for JAGs.

I took several courses with active JAGs at the University of Virginia, where there is a JAG school. The courses were very intense.

One suggestion is to talk to a few current or ex JAGs. One place to find them is on Martindale referenced below. Also check with your local reserve unit, most have JAG’s attached who are working lawyers. See what they think.

    Good luck.
