I don’t know, it’s difficult, obviously you want to bring them up to be good and decent human beings, but you live with them and if something makes you angry or you yourself have unjustified and irrational hatreds it’s going to be hard to hide those things from them.
I think the only thing I’ve put on to my children is that they must never throw litter and they must never, never hurt an animal and that the disgusting greed and ignorance driven environmental devastation their generation are going to have to deal with is totally wrong. They also know by my example not to lie and deceive and that I don’t see homosexuality as wrong. BUT they also know I’m an atheist, that I am scared to death of marriage and that i do not believe in turning the other cheek unless it’s to save your ****!
The worse things I try to hide from them, but I think if you’ve brought them up well, they will realize that you are wrong and form their own probably better opinions.

All you can really do is guide them in a direction that you think is good and safe. Too many parents are overbearing and this leads to adults who have problems in adulthood. Let a child be a child and don’t let a parent live vicariously thru them.
