First off, I think psychology is a wonderful subject--I even tried to major it for awhile, myself. Like you, though, I was afraid of where it'd take me. It is difficult to get into a graduate program, much less get a job. So many people major in psychology, that it's become so competitive.

This is going to sound bad, but the few people I do know who got their bachelor's in psychology didn't go onto psych graduate school. One person I know went onto medical school (she wants to be a psychiatrist), another person went to law school. Lastly, I know a third person who is in radiology tech school.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Yes, there will be. Right now social workers and psychologists are overwhelmed with clients....go to apa.org to read more, or the Bureau of Labor Statistics to read about job demand. You will need a minimum of a master's degree to practice. Currently it is more difficult to get get into a graduate program in psychology than medical school. Study for the GRE, and do not delay application after finishing your bachelor's. Good luck to you! (retired IBM exec mgr/psychology professor)
