I am a Psychology major seriously considering switching because I do not see where psychologists and psychiatrists will be needed in the future, I am considering switching to a liberal arts degree in Economics.

I’m 15 years old and me and my mother both think I should go into college as a psychology major. I like to learn about how different humans and emotions work and I also enjoy talking to people about what’s going on in their life. I also plan to take psychology as my one of my electives junior and senior year. But I’d like to know what types of jobs are avaliable after completing the required years of school. What I’d really like to do is work in a private pratice.

Till now I have been preparing to be in the veterinarian career until a few days ago when I realized that it’s not what I want to do. (I don’t think I was suppose to be a vet) Kind of stupid but I saw a movie and in it a woman and her kid were kidnapped and they were so defenseless. I couldn’t stand it I got so angry and sad (I know it was only a movie) but I’ve noticed I’ve always done it( Got mad at others who tease or hurt others). I want to help people to become stronger both physically and mentally. I want to teach others how to defend themselves and I want to help people get over past experiences. (Like abuse) I don’t know if there is an ideal career that holds all of the listed but can ya’ll give me some suggestions? By the way I’m a sophomore in high school so what education do I need?
