I do work as an outside consultant. A position has opened up within a firm I have worked with extensively. I’d like to use their Director as a reference but she is also the person who will be interviewing me and deciding if I’m fit for the job. Is this ethical? She is well aware of my past work and can speak very positively for what I’ve done.

If a software developer (or web service firm) creates a product or online service (such as an application, or a service like YouTube or MySpace), lawyers need to write all of the Terms of Use and conditions legal documents, as well as assist in future partnerships with other companies.

Is anyone out there either a lawyer who has experience in this field or has developed web applications or personal computer software that can reference a firm or a place to find one?

I am about to be a Government Sophomore at UT Austin and I just read an article about how several law firms around the nation are getting rid of hourly billing and how this change has come about. I have always had a fundamental interest in law and would like to become a lawyer in the future. But I was wondering about what lawyers in the future should expect. Does it get easier along the way. Aside from personal experiences, is it a relatively enjoyable career. With this change in some law firms, is it still an expectation to make a good living?

I was so naive to think through the years that lawyers have it easy and that money is just shoved down their throats for easy work, but this has shown me the actuality of the situation. I always thought that my career choice would lead me to enjoy financial security from the beginning but im starting to think otherwise. I think ive decided not to graduate college early at this moment right here. It seems that the real world is too brutal and that college is the protective shell that I need right now. Hopefully I will end up with the job that gives me everything I need but i guess law will not do that for me. And it is a shame. All of these years I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do. i am a software engg from mnit jaipur got selected in pangea3 now i am confused abt my role

I have a very close aunt that is a high-ranking federal court judge overseas. If I become a law clerk at her court, would that still help with my job opportunities here in the states? Or am I recommended to do clerkship in the US?

I know lawyers don’t get as much as the attorneys from Boston Legal but I’m still curious to know. I want to go into civil law somewhere and I just want to know what my future salary might look like.
